I’m Sam. I’m a Registered Dietitian, Certified Personal Trainer and Whole30 Certified Coach. I’m also a real food advocate on a myth-busting mission. I guide people to help them achieve peace with food, vibrant energy, improved well-being and confidence in their food and lifestyle choices – once and for all.
As a culture, we’re taught that we’re never good enough, and neither are our bodies. We’re bombarded with misinformation about food. The result? We’re never sure about what is “healthy” and we feel guilty when we make the “wrong choice”. We try to patch that by restricting calories because that’s what we’ve been told, but eventually we slip up because that’s no way to live. When you count yourself as “good” or “bad” based on the food you eat, you lose track of what really matters. I know, because I’ve been there.
I’ve felt hopeless and confused when it came to food and my body. I’ve counted calories, done fruit “cleanses,” gone vegetarian, gone vegan, and tried to diet my body into submission, only to turn around and eat more. I’ve use food to numb; whenever I was sad, lonely, stressed, or tired. Food was my coping mechanism.
This cycle started in high school, but the seed was planted long before that. Even as a nutrition student I still couldn’t shift my habits. Talk about shame; a nutrition student by day and overeating by night. But with time and self work, I got to a place where I could truly make choices for my body based on my love for it, rather than my resentment of it. And I want to help you get to that place too.
When we can examine what leads us to eat and what we’re really looking for instead, we can truly start to change our habits and operate from a place of self love.
Repeat with me:
Your worth is not dictated by your food choices. You were born for more than losing and gaining the same 10 lbs. And even if you’re not where you want to be, you can still love yourself and your body in the process.
